Garden Room Vs Extensions

There appears to be no slowing down with the home improvement sector, which has seen material prices increase and a huge demand for skilled trades. This has caused the cost of extensions to go up and the waiting times for skilled builders. There is a better way to get more space for your family or business, and that’s by considering one of our Garden rooms.

THE BENEFITS

Garden Room Uses

Our garden rooms can be used for a variety of uses.

Most properties have the perfect amount of rooms for its occupants, with a spare room (if you’re lucky) for guests. Rarely do you have enough space for anything else, like a games room, home office, a gym, chill out space for the teenagers, an art studio space, therapy or treatment room, music studio, home education, Yoga or Pilates space, etc, etc!

Thankfully with our garden rooms you can create that perfect space within the confines of your own property’s grounds, without taking away from the much needed space inside your home.

2020 has been a strange year for all of us, and given all that has happened, getting the most out of our homes and garden space is more important than it has ever been.

All of this has changed the way we look at life and the way we live. With the need to maximize our homes and use every available space to its best, our garden rooms are ideally suited to offer you more freedom whilst staying at home. Be it for home office use, or a home gym space, extra space for family visits, teenage chill out rooms, or any other use you may need the space for, these garden rooms are perfect.

For all your budding artists, these garden rooms would make an ideal studio, extra windows could be added in to give you as much natural lighting you need to create your masterpieces!

If you have decided that you would like to home school your children after this pandemic then these would create the ideal space, giving you and your children that home/school separation which would make it an ideal solution.

And anyone who would like to set up their therapy or treatment businesses from home, these would be perfect.

In fact the list is endless on what you could use these for and they can also be set up for multi uses!

Income Potential

Hideaway Homes Garden Rooms would lend themselves to being ideal holiday rental pods/units, bringing in an extra revenue stream if you have the space on your grounds to do this. As they are so well insulated they could be used all year round making them ideal holiday let options! Planning permission will be needed for these which we can discuss with you in more detail.

They can also be used for adding on to your existing property. Again planning permission will be needed for extensions to properties and again we can discuss this with you in more detail. Simply Contact Us for more information on these options.

Home Office Solutions

Thanks to Covid-19 the way we work may never be the same again. As we have all had to adapt to new working arrangements, most of us will have discovered that we can quite easily work from home. However, whilst the spare room, kitchen table or bedroom have served us well as a temporary office space, long term that may not be a viable option. So what do we do?

Enter our garden rooms! These are the perfect solution for anyone looking to set up their office space at home on a more permanent basis. They offer you the ideal separation from work and home life which makes it easier to focus on your work, rather than getting distracted by being at home.

The way we construct our garden rooms means they can be used all year round. They are very well insulated, being built from SIP Panels, which means that unlike timber framed or log cabins or shed panel built summer houses, our garden room offer a higher level of insulation which in turn reduces the cost of heating in the winter, and retains heat overnight.

Adding style and additional space to your property and garden, these will also add value to your home, if and when you decide to move.

Do I need Planning

Do you need Planning Permission?

Garden rooms or buildings do not require planning permission, providing they fall within the permitted development guidelines of your area/county. To classify as an ‘outbuilding’ under permitted development rules, it must not contain sleeping accommodation.

Putting a sofa bed in your garden room so that guests can occasionally stay there is fine and will not require planning permission.

A Garden room must be single storey with a maximum eaves height of 2.5m. All our Garden Rooms will comply with these guidelines.

If you want peace of mind that it is lawful you can apply to your local authority for a Lawful Development Certificate.

This proves to both your local authority and future buyers of your home that your project was legal at the point of construction.

It’s an important certificate to have, especially with garden rooms, as the blurred line between outbuilding and annex might be questioned at a later date.
